If you are looking for a way to restore a youthful appearance to your face, you have probably seen or heard references to thread lifts. They are an increasingly popular choice for patients who prefer non-invasive procedures or want the most natural-looking results.
During the aging process, most people find that their skin begins to sag. The traditional solution is to get a facelift, but not everyone wishes to go “under the knife”. There is always a risk of ending up with irreversible results you do not like, as well as more extensive downtime.
Thread lifts are an effective nonsurgical alternative. This medical spa procedure takes years off the face, effectively prevents skin from sagging, and creates natural-looking results.
Thread Lifts: The Basics
Uses:
Thread lifts are most often used to reduce sagging skin. They help contour the face and restore a more youthful appearance.
The most common treatment areas include the eyebrows, nasolabial fold, smile lines, marionette lines, jowls, and jawline.
Safety:
The procedure is very safe and minimally invasive.
Candidacy:
Thread lifts work well for all genders, especially those with mild to moderate skin laxity in the face and neck.
However, thread lifts are contraindicated for those who are pregnant or breast-feeding, have a blood clotting disorder, have an active skin infection, have inflammation, or have a tendency for keloid/hypertrophic scarring, among other conditions.
Be sure to share any current medical conditions with your aesthetic provider before getting a thread lift.
Time to Results:
You will see some lifting in your skin immediately after the procedure. There will be some swelling, which should resolve in a few days. You may experience mild swelling for up to a week.
Your results will continue to improve over the next 3-6 months as your body produces more collagen.
After 6 months, your thread lifts will dissolve. However, you will see results last for about a year since new collagen will form in the treatment areas.
Recovery Time:
Downtime is minimal. You will be able to resume daily activities right after the procedure and wear makeup the following day. However, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for a week following the procedure.
Combinations with Other Procedures:
Thread lifts are effective on their own, but they can also be an excellent complement to Botox and dermal fillers. Botox smooths your wrinkles, fillers add volume, and thread lifts lift sagging skin. When these procedures are all done together, you will end up with an even more youthful, natural-looking face.
Cost:
At Beauty Boost, thread lifts cost $1800-$3000, depending on the insertion area.
How Do Thread Lifts Work?
During a thread lift procedure, a medical practitioner will insert threads under the skin to lift sagging areas. There is no surgery involved.
PDO thread lifts are non-allergic, non-antigenic, and completely biodegradable. They are made from a synthetic sugar molecule that is often used in rods, screws, and pins in sutures or orthopedics.
At Beauty Boost, we prefer to use PDO for thread lifts because it significantly reduces your chance of complications. The body completely absorbs the PDO and does not create scar tissue.
